Sarah Baileff Well as this is only my second season I still have lots to learn not least improving my wheelchair skills as I am an able-bodied player (some arthritis but hey!) with no previous wheelchair experience! Compared to last year I have come on a lot but there is still so far to go! Never mind, I have my 3 year plan...... How did I start? Well I’ve known Simmo for many years as we’re both leaders in Scouting. I took the Scout Troop along to visit the Club on a training night as part of their work on their Health & Fitness Challenge and gave it a go.....the rest, as they say, is history. I love the game as it’s fast and furious and it contrasts well with my other sporting activity of
karate (I’m a black belt and instructor). I’m very tall so play mostly as a forward. Finest moment? Predictably it’s scoring my first match basket! Worst moment? Can’t decide between my first match ever (I was like a startled rabbit!) or a crashing fall forward at speed onto both kneecaps – ouch!! I’ve been given so much help by so many people – you know who you are – but particular thanks to Kris Small for all her help, advice and loan of a chair and to Gary for all his help, encouragement and refusal to accept the words “I can’t”!
