Following a RTA in 1994 which resulted in my being T5 Paraplegic I decided I should get some exercise and looked into basketball (it being more dynamic than archery).
I joined the Sussex Sonics and got to learn the game as a guard. I had played some basketball at school, but had concentrated more on other team sports such as rugby and hockey. Since school I had played rugby.
I experienced the highs and lows of the Sussex Sonics, winning the Third Division South and gaining promotion to the Second Division. I missed the next season playing second Division through injury.
I returned for more third division basketball for a season or two and last year played for both the third division and second division sides – a lot of basketball!
I have enjoyed playing with a strong squad last season and look forward to the current season with a great team.
